En la siguiente frase:

To do that, legislators should focus on negotiating more viable ways to prosecute cybercrimes that cross international borders. That, of course, would be much more difficult than putting Microsoft on the stand.

Se traduce como "llevar a Microsoft a la corte" ? O tiene otra connotación?

Tenés razón que "to take someone to court" es lo mismo que "to put someone on the stand", pero WM dice que se traduce como "llevar a tribunales", "llevar a juicio" o "llevar a la barra". También se puede decir "perseguir a Microsoft".
